Google Pixel owners report latest update has seriously broken their phones
If your shiny new Google Pixel 10 has been misbehaving recently, don’t worry, it’s not just your phone. According to reports, the latest software update has been causing some of the firm’s latest devices to malfunction.
As spotted by 9to5Google, Pixel owners have been reporting serious issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity following the release of the January 2026 update for Pixel phones.
Although this update covers several generations of Pixel, it appears as though the bug is mostly affecting the Pixel 10 series, which is the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
One Pixel 10 owner on Reddit claimed that since the update had installed, they could not turn on Bluetooth, and the Internet settings (which control mobile data and Wi-Fi) freezes, and does not allow Wi-Fi to turn on.
Another Pixel 10 user said the camera, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi all stopped working on their phone around the time of the software update also.
These are major bugs by any standard, and although they are not affecting every Pixel 10 out there, it’s not a great look for Google. There are also some reports of issues with the Pixel 8 series, so it might not just be Pixel owners with the newest handsets who are affected.
Google’s official Pixel Community account has cropped up on some Reddit threads suggesting people contact Pixel’s support team online, but beyond this Google has not officially addressed the claims of a major issue.
Although many smartphones from many brands suffer from bugs and software niggles every day all over the world, Google has had a hard time shifting its reputation for software bugs, especially among the enthusiast smartphone community.
The Pixel 2 suffered from a wallpaper related bootloop that was very hard to fix, and the underdisplay fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6, the first Pixel to have one, was notoriously buggy, while several generations of the Pixel have been affected by a photo saving bug that can randomly discard taken photos, never to be seen again.
Like any phone range, the Pixel has its fans – this writer included – but these latest reports of significant software bugs is cause for concern.
Given the suggestion is that the bugs have appeared after a software update, it is relatively safe to assume that those affected will have to wait until another software update comes around, hopefully with a fix. With no word from Google yet, there’s no telling when this will be.
If you are affected, you can contact Google support here.
