Your MacBook may soon look inferior as Apple set to launch something better

If you are thinking about buying a MacBook Pro, beware. Rumours are rife that Apple is about to unleash something better, and it could arrive very soon. According to the latest whispers from top Apple expert Mark Gurman, a boosted range of Pro laptops may launch within the coming weeks. If true, it could make the US tech giant’s current portable PCs look a little inferior.

So what might be on the way?

Apple never reveals anything ahead of a major launch, and we won’t know the exact details until the lid is officially lifted.

What seems most likely is that the latest MacBook Pro machines will be powered by the next generation of M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon.

Right now, you can buy the smaller 14-inch MacBook Pro with a full range of M4 chips (M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max) or a standard M5 processor. The bigger Pro 16-inch is only available with M4 inside. However, that looks set to change in the coming weeks, with a significant power boost that could take things to a new level and make video editing, photo retouching and gaming even more effortless.

There have been rumours that Apple is planning to revamp the look of its laptops and add touch screens, OLED panels and additional colour options but that update seems more likely to arrive next year.

In 2026, it looks like it will simply be about sheer grunt and nothing else.

There’s not much more we know at the moment, but Gurman is often correct, and a fully refreshed M5 Pro range makes a lot of sense.

Express.co.uk will keep a close eye on all the latest Apple rumours and will update this article if we hear more. One thing we wouldn’t recommend is buying a MacBook Pro this month if you want the very latest updates.

The current range is still incredibly impressive, but M5 Pro and M5 Max models will take things up yet another notch.

Watch this space.
