Open-world RPG, Where Winds Meet is set to receive a major update this week packed with numerous new features and gameplay improvements. The game’s bosses promise the “most formidable challenge yet” as well as a brand new region to explore.

New quests, battles and experiences are coming as part of Where Winds Meet’s 1.2 update, which is is free-to-play on PS5, mobile and PC. This means that all players can download the new content for free, with no purchase required. This “thrilling” new chapter for the game is just the beginning, however, as publishers NetEase Games revealed the roadmap for the rest of the month.

Where Winds Meet update 1.2 release date

The release date for the Where Winds Meet update 1.2 is January 8, available on consoles, mobile and PC.

Everstone Studio, the game’s developer, has not yet announced a release time, although recent downloads have been made available at 10pm GMT UK time. That’s 11pm CET for European players, or 2pm PDT / 5pm EDT for US fans, reports the Mirror.

Where Winds Meet update 1.2 new content

While we wait for the official patch notes, Everstone Studio has confirmed all of the major new features launching as part of update 1.2, although it appears that content will be gradually released throughout the month.

According to a post on X, update 1.2 introduces the Nine Mortal Ways Base region to the game on January 22. This is in addition to the new Kaifeng story campaign, along with a selection of Legacy Quests.

In other news, the update introduces the Jianghu Martial Games, Guild Battle pre-season, the Hero’s Realm, a new World Boss and more. A NetEase Games spokesperson said: “The upcoming update introduces the Nine Mortal Ways Camp and a new puzzle cave – Mistveil Prison. 

“Hidden in the Ghost Market beneath Kaifeng, the Nine Mortal Ways Camp Serves as a gathering place for sect members with diverse personalities, full of intriguing encounters, secret treasures and bustling fun – but beware of the scams!

“Version 1.2 also marks the final volume of Kaifeng. Players will face their most formidable challenge yet: the Campaign Challenge boss, Supreme Freedom, with whom the confrontation is more than a battle; it’s a journey through escalating clashes that force players to confront profound choices between personal belief, duty, and the inexorable pull of fate.”

Where Winds Meet January Roadmap

As evident from the roadmap above, update 1.2 sets the stage for several content releases, including the previously mentioned Nine Mortal Ways Base region on 22 January.

Fans can expect the Mistveil Puzzle Base on 15 January, the Year of Abundance event on 29 January, and the Season End Dash event on the same day.
