Venezuela LIVE: Russia fumes at Trump ‘catastrophe’ as WW3 fears soar | World | News

Venezuela’s new interim President Delcy Rodriguez has offered “to collaborate” with the Trump administration.

Ms Rodriguez, who served as vice president to Nicolas Maduro from 2018, said in statements posted on social media that she wants to build “respectful relations” with Donald Trump.

“We invite the US government to collaborate with us on an agenda of cooperation oriented towards shared development within the framework of international law to strengthen lasting community coexistence,” she wrote on Sunday.

It came a day after Mr Rodriguez gave no indication she would cooperate with the US government.

In a televised address, she called the Trump admistration “extremists” and insisted Mr Maduro was Venezuela’s rightful leader.

Mr Trump warned Ms Rodríguez would “pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro”, if she didn’t fall in line.

The American president has said the US will pressure to Venezeula’s government to conform to its vision for the oil-rich nation.
