UK’s ‘worst’ broadband provider confirmed but where does yours rank on the list?

The latest broadband report is out, and there are some winners and losers when it comes to handling customer complaints. UK regulator Ofcom has just released its very latest data and it seems that three major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) need to up their game. TalkTalk, Vodafone and EE have all come bottom of the pile, scoring below the UK average.

“EE, TalkTalk and Vodafone generated the most broadband complaints,” Ofcom confirmed.

“EE’s figures remained the same as in the previous quarter, while TalkTalk and Vodafone saw an increase in complaints.”

So what about at the other end of the table?

Plusnet came out on top with the fewest moans and groans.

“Plusnet was the least complained-about broadband provider,” Ofcom added.

Next was Sky with the telecoms and TV giant taking second place for the fewest issues.

There was also good news for Virgin Media. The company saw its complaints falling once again. Just last year, the popular ISP was one of the worst, but it’s now creeping up the table and is currently the third best for lack of gripes.

HERE IS THE FULL LIST OF WINNERS AND LOSERS

PLUSNET • 4 complaints per 100,000

SKY • 6 complaints per 100,000

VIRGIN MEDIA • 7 complaints per 100,000

BT • 11 complaints per 100,000

VODAFONE • 10 complaints per 100,000

EE • 10 complaints per 100,000

TALKTALK • 10 complaints per 100,000

This latest update isn’t just about broadband. Ofcom’s team also looks into Landline, Mobile and Pay-TV complaints as well.

If you want the best landline, Utility Warehouse wins with just 1 complaint per 100,000. Sky, Virgin Media and Vodafone also performed well in this category.

Sadly, TalkTalk came bottom of the league once again with a score of 8 complaints per 100,000. It’s not all bad news for TalkTalk though. The firm did beat its rivals when it came to the least TV moans.

HERE IS THE FULL LIST OF TV WINNERS AND LOSERS

TALKTALK • 2 complaints per 100,000

SKY • 3 complaints per 100,000

VIRGIN MEDIA • 5 complaints per 100,000

EE • 6 complaints per 100,000

Although complaints have not increased, they also have not improved, with the figures showing that things remained similar to the previous quarter, with complaints about broadband, landline, mobile and pay-TV all staying at the same levels.

Responding to the new report, Ernest Doku, telecoms expert at Uswitch.com said, “Patience for poor service is wearing thin. While it is positive to see overall complaint volumes across broadband, mobile, and pay-TV remain steady, the lack of improvement across the industry is a concern for households facing rising bills.

“Plusnet has once again set the benchmark for broadband, receiving the fewest complaints which reflects its recent win for Best Broadband Provider for Customer Service at the Uswitch 2026 Telecoms Awards.

“With annual prices approaching in April, customers will be looking closely at whether their provider justifies these extra costs. If your service isn’t delivering, you don’t need to settle – now is the time to compare deals and see if there is a provider offering better value for money.”
