Trump health fears soar as President ‘hides bruise with glove on left hand’ | World | News
Donald Trump appeared to try and hide the bruise on his left hand as he wore a glove to an event on Wednesday. The image was posted on X by Jake Traylor, an MSNBC White House correspondent who previously covered the White House and presidential campaigns for outlets including NBC News and Politico.
The glove was worn on his left hand – the same hand Trump has been seen sporting dark bruises on in recent weeks. The image prompted renewed discussion online, although there is no on-camera evidence explaining why the glove was worn. The discolouration was also visible during a recent event where rapper Nicki Minaj briefly held the former president’s hand during a surprise on-stage appearance at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington DC, where Trump was delivering remarks at a Treasury Department summit. Trump was also seen last week with visible bruising and swelling on his left hand during public appearances, including at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this month.
During his speech to world leaders in Switzerland, dark marks on his hand were clearly visible, prompting renewed online discussion about their cause. However, Trump later addressed the issue in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, where he said the bruising was caused by a high dose of aspirin he takes on medical advice.
He explained that doctors had recommended aspirin to thin his blood, adding that while he had been advised to lower the dosage, he had continued taking a higher amount for years despite it causing visible bruising.
The White House has also sought to play down concerns, previously confirming that medical scans showed no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease following a comprehensive health assessment.
On Wednesday, Trump also appeared in a live Fox News broadcast wearing a single black glove on his left hand while indoors.
In the Fox News clip, Trump was asked by a reporter: “Do you agree with the assessment from some of your own officials that Alex Pretti is a domestic terrorist or assassin?” He replied: “I haven’t heard that, but he certainly shouldn’t have been carrying a gun.”
He added: “Bottom line – everybody in this room, we view that as a very unfortunate incident. I don’t like that he had a gun, I don’t like that he had two fully loaded magazines. That’s a lot of bad stuff.”
Despite the discussion turning to gun policy during the broadcast, attention on social media quickly shifted to Trump’s appearance, with one Fox viewer tweeting: “What is Trump hiding under one glove?”
Another wrote: “Why is Trump giving a speech wearing a glove on his left hand and not on his right hand too?”
