Tourist spends night in hotel giggles at ‘interesting’ message | Travel News | Travel
Who doesn’t love a night away from reality? Waking up in a hotel room packed with silky soft duvet sheets, a nice bath tub and, of course, a phone where you can dial for room service.
Depending on the star rating of your hotel, you can also enjoy the luxury of a gym, possibly a spa, and multiple restaurants to satisfy your tastebuds with. Nowadays establishments offer a range of services to pretty much make your life easier, like laundry.
Now one tourist who recently spent a night in a hotel was left chuckling after spotting the interesting message on a black cloth he found sitting in his room.
Posting on Reddit, the person wrote: “Wash clothes at my hotel has an interesting message.”
The message read: “Please use this black cloth during your stay if your intended use might cause a stain. We appreciate your help in keeping our white towels white. Thanks!”
If you think about it, the message is pretty clear. It’s quite common to use the white towels and get all kinds of stains, from make-up to maybe even hairdye.
In this case, the hotel is just taking one step ahead of everyone else and it seems other Reddit users think the same.
Since it was shared online, the post garnered 70,000 upvotes and 2,400 comments. One said: “Why are people so disgusting?”
A second chimed in: “Same reason some Marriott’s offer free makeup removal wipes in the bathroom. Towels aren’t cheap!”
Then a third admitted: “And people with recently dyed hair. Especially unnatural colours that bleed more. I’ve ruined many hotel white towels by drying off recently dyed hair.”
Meanwhile someone in the industry added: “I was a hotel manager for a while, and people would absolutely destroy our towels removing makeup, despite us providing makeup wipes right next to the sink.
“We’d have to throw so much away and it’s actually so expensive to replace towels and linens. Anyway, I understand why they do this. No one wants to use stuff with visible stains even if it’s been washed/bleached.”
Another chimed in: “As an Airbnb owner I may copy this! I frequently have to stain clean, rewash or throw away towels because of (mostly) make-up stains.”
Black cloths can be used in hotels for makeup removal to prevent staining white linens. It can also be used for a more discreet appearance for a stylish, luxurious look.
