Time to ditch your Fire TV Stick? Amazon could launch something better tomorrow
If you love your Fire TV Stick but fancy something new, it’s worth popping tomorrow’s date in your diary. Amazon has confirmed that it’s holding a major launch event in New York, and it appears that one star of the show could be a refreshed Fire TV device. All Amazon has said so far is that things will get underway from 10am EST (3pm BST) but, despite not giving the game away, the online retail giant has given a major hint at what’s to come.
In fact, in an invite sent to Express.co.uk, a photo montage can be seen which includes an image of a pixel-packed TV screen. Of course, Amazon already has a number of Fire OS powered televisions, which start from under £250 but it seems consumers may get even more choice when choosing a new broadband-powered screen.
It’s also been a while since Amazon refreshed its popular Fire TV Sticks – the last major reboot was in 2023 – so we might get some new models that are faster, slimmer and get more features and improved ways to stream content.
All will be revealed tomorrow morning in the Big Apple and it appears things won’t just be about Fire TV.
The image on the invite also shows that a new colour Kindle (possibly an update to the premium Kindle Scribe) could be unveiled. Those looking closely might also see an Echo speaker hidden in the photo as well. That’s good news for fans of these smart speakers, as some models haven’t had an update in over two years.
One final announcement from the showcase could be more news on when Alexa+ will arrive in more countries. This smarter assistant is currently only available in the US, but Amazon may now be ready to unleash it across the globe.
For those not in the know, Alexa+ is an enhanced version of Amazon’s voice assistant which feels more like a real person than a digital voice. Alexa+ is built to adapt to your habits, offering tailored recommendations, reminders, and contextual support across devices.
It does cost $19.99 per month in the US but it’s free to those who have signed up for Prime.
Amazon is not streaming the event tomorrow but Express.co.uk is making the trip across the pond and will bring you all the latest news live.
