This Google Pixel 9 bundle has never been cheaper, but it won’t last long
Smartphone deals are easy enough to find if you look online, but finding a genuinely good one can be harder than you think. I’ve trawled my way through a mountain of phone offers in my decade as a technology journalist, and the latest one I’ve come across over at Amazon is well worth your time.
Right now, you can get the Google Pixel 9 with a 45W Google charger for £399, a huge £200 saving on the usual price of the bundle. The phone otherwise comes without a charger in the box.
That’s an excellent price considering the Pixel 9 came out in 2024 and retailed for £799. For £400 less, you are getting a phone that will hang around for years to come, with Google offering software support for it until 2031.
Amazon price comparison site Camelcamelcamel shows this is the cheapest this bundle has ever been.
The phone, which has since only been superseded by the Pixel 10 line up, boasts dual rear cameras with an exceptionally good 50MP main sensor making this still one of the best point-and-shoot cameras on the market, especially at this price. There’s also a 48MP ultrawide lens for getting more of your scene in, but there is not a telephoto lens on this phone.
Under the hood you get Google’s Tensor G4 chipset with a hefty 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s only one nano SIM slot, but you get eSIM compatibility if you want to run a second number or buy cheaper mobile data while you’re abroad, plus the phone is IP68 dust and water resistant, so it should survive an accidental dunk in the bath or pool.
And while phones aren’t exactly tiny these days, the 6.3-inch AMOLED screen on the Pixel 9 makes it one of the more pocketable Android choices. The 4,700mAh battery is good for a full day of use, and then you have your bundled charger with this deal to top you up as quick as possible.
The charger is 45W and the Pixel 9 can only charge at 27W speeds, so you’re covered, plus it also has wireless charging, albeit slower, if you prefer.
Google’s flavour of Android is also quite to my taste, with a good minimalist look that is surprisingly customisable with different colour theming options. It will update to the latest Android 16, and continue to get monthly security and features updates for years, as mentioned.
This excellent deal is listed on Amazon as a “limited time deal”, so it’s unclear how long these savings will last. But if you want a flagship Android smartphone that is only one generation old, this is great discount that doesn’t look like it’ll last long.
