The pretty town just 50 minutes from major UK city – perfect for autumn day out | Travel News | Travel

Nestled in the heart of the Peak District, there’s a pretty town that can’t be missed. If you’re looking for a day trip or a weekend getaway in autumn, this town is located just 50 minutes away from Manchester.

Buxton is surrounded by stunning green hills, woodland trails, and a huge range of hiking routes. The town offers a vibrant mix of nature, history, cosy cafés and warm pubs. One must-visit place in the area is the Pavillion Gardens which have become popular due to their picture-perfect and flawless look. Even in chillier weather, the gardens still look beautiful and it’s an ideal place to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

One person on Tripadvisor said: “We loved exploring these magnificent gardens. Very well kept and plenty of seating.

“The Daisy lawns were beautiful in the sunshine. We looked around the conservatory shops and the indoor greenhouses. It’s free to stroll around at your leisure. Definitely recommend if you are visiting Buxton.”

On a Reddit forum, some people who have spent time in the town have shared their best tips for visiting.

One person penned: “I remember it being picturesque. It is on the edge of the Peak District so if you like climbing, walking or cycling, you are sorted as the Peaks are awesome.

“It shouldn’t be too difficult to get to Manchester from Buxton. As far as stuff to do, in July each year it has its own Fringe festival.”

While most Brits might only know the town from Buxton water, there’s much more to it than this.

However, if you are planning on taking a trip, you should make sure you see St Ann’s Well for a free taste of Buxton Water.

Some of the smaller features of the town can be seen on the Buxton Heritage Trail.

Buxton is a fascinating town that’s the perfect place to visit as the leaves begin to fall from the trees.
