A small dreamy paradise island just three miles north of Lanzorote sits one of the Canary Island’s best kept secrets. Boasting turquoise water and untouched golden sand beaches, the tranquil island of La Graciosa is a true slice of paradise.

Populous destinations like Tenerife and Lanzarote regularly welcome millions of tourists every year thanks to their year-long sunshine and abundance of activities. Sitting amongst these flashy isles, La Graciosa offers a peaceful alternative for holidaymakers looking to escape rubbing shoulders with tourists at every twist and turn. Rows of white houses sit among its volcanic landscape with the island being perfect for those who enjoy nature and beaches in their purest state.

Just a quick 30 minutes away from Lanzarote the island is home to just 700 inhabitants, who nearly all reside in the village of Caleta de Sebo.

La Graciosa is one of the last places in Europe with no asphalted roads. Instead of paved roads you will find sandy tracks and trails that are waiting to be explored.

While there are no paved roads, 4×4 taxis are available for transportation around the island. Many visitors choose to explore by bike or on foot, enjoying the sandy trails and pristine beaches. 

The lack of roads also equates to a lack of noise and air pollution, adding to the peaceful atmosphere that permeates the island and all its beaches.

Boasting six picturesque beaches the “hidden in time” island has 435m of white sand and incredible turquoise waters, with very little swell, that has nothing to envy of Caribbean beaches.

Playa de las Conchas is one of the main beaches on the island, it’s calming atmosphere invites those who visit to kick back and relax on its white sand beach.

Surrounded by an imposing volcanic landscape Playa La Francesa is an idyllic, long beach that is perfect to sunbathe, walk or take a dip in its tempting waters.

Despite being the smallest of the Canary Islands at just under 30km² La Graciosa is part of the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park, which is also the largest marine reserve in Europe.

Like its sister islands, La Graciosa has year-round sun even in the midst of January.
