The Dell XPS returns with upgrades that put it firmly back on the Windows 11 map

In front of a crowd of the world’s top technology journalists, Dell openly admitted that it made a serious error. Last year, it killed off the iconic XPS brand in a move that caused its fair share of criticism. Now, having listened to reviewers and the paying public, Dell is bringing back the XPS PC with the firm boasting that things will now be “better than ever” for consumers. The fully refreshed Windows 11 laptops come packed with upgrades, with Dell promising that these machines have been rebuilt from the ground up.

Updates include a striking new design which even gets the XPS name emblazoned on its case. Premium materials such as aluminium and tough Gorilla Glass 3 have been added to make these portable PCs feel nice in the hand and durable enough for life on the road.

There’s even a new keyboard with better stability to reduce accidental presses and a seamless glass touchpad, which blends in with the casing. This refreshed appearance is not only pleasing on the eye but also better for your backpack, with Dell’s design team shaving off some weight and thickness.

This means the upcoming XPS 14 and bigger-screen XPS 16 are now Dell’s thinnest laptops, measuring just 14.6mm.

One of the factors that has made this possible is a reengineered 4K web camera, the narrowest 8MP snapper ever integrated into a Dell laptop.

Along with looking super premium, the latest XPS laptops should offer some serious performance with them powered by new Ultra processors from Intel. With those brains inside, owners can expect to see faster speeds, improved graphics and better efficiency.

There’s even a completely redesigned thermal system to support this performance and keep things cool under pressure.

These machines will also get some epic battery life thanks to 900ED (energy density) cells, which can keep the crystal clear display glowing for over 27 hours on a single charge.

Other extras include impressive edge-to-edge touch displays, loud speakers with Dolby Atmos and plenty of ports to plug in accessories.

“Today at CES 2026, we unveiled the new Dell XPS 14 and Dell XPS 16. That’s right, the iconic XPS laptops that you know and love are here to stay.

XPS has always been our benchmark for premium laptops. The new laptops are rebuilt from the ground up, delivering striking design, speedy performance, impressive displays and exceptional battery life. All in a compact device, built to move with you.”
