Radio 2 host Sara Cox praises 78p-a-day tablets for hair growth

Hair loss can be a significant blow to many women’s confidence, with age, genetics, hormonal shifts and stress all contributing to increased shedding. Some have turned to supplements in an attempt to maintain healthy hair, including broadcaster Sara Cox who attributes her fuller-looking locks to a 78p-a-day formula.

The BBC2 Radio presenter noticed her hair becoming ‘dry’ and ‘looking a bit dull’, leading her to seek help from a daily hair supplement to restore thickness. The 51 year old has now become the latest ambassador for supplement brand Dr Vegan, praising it as her ‘saviour’.

The supplement she uses is the brand’s Hair Saviour, priced at £25.99 for a 30-day supply. This award-winning product combines 14 scientifically researched ingredients and was formulated by practitioners to support healthy hair growth and tackle nutritional deficiencies that could lead to hair thinning or hair loss in both women and men.

Discussing her experience, Sara shared: “My hair was feeling a little bit dry and it was looking a bit dull, so I needed help. I wasn’t interested in a quick fix. My saviour, quite literally, is Hair Saviour.”

She continued: “After about six weeks I noticed less shedding and my hair began to feel fuller. After around eight to ten weeks, I started seeing new baby hairs coming through. You’ve got to stick with it, but with my iconic fringe, it’s looking fuller and better than ever. Bottom line is my own hair just feels healthier and definitely feels fuller”, reports the Mirror.

Hair Saviour features AnaGain, a pea shoot extract that has undergone clinical studies examining its impact on hair health. Research has demonstrated that the ingredient can boost the body’s natural propensity for hair growth by as much as 78%, whilst also extending the hair growth phase.

Dr Vegan reports that customers generally begin noticing visible results within eight to twelve weeks. A customer survey carried out by the brand in June 2024 revealed that 81% of users taking Hair Saviour for three months or longer found the supplement effective, 73% observed enhanced hair strength after three months, and 70% experienced new hair growth following the same timeframe.

Perfect for those seeking to nourish their hair without introducing unnecessary substances into their body, the formula is proudly 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and free from additives. The supplement also delivers nutrients including Biotin, Zinc and Selenium to promote scalp health and hair resilience.

Alternatively, Feel offers their Hair Support supplement for £45.15, reduced from £56.43. This product utilises the power of Keranat, a scientifically proven ingredient that reduces hair loss, restores the natural growth cycle and strengthens hair from root to tip.

For those who prefer a topical treatment, Champo is a top choice. Their £34 hair growth serum is ideal for individuals with fine hair experiencing thinning or loss.

The formula includes Caffeine, Tetrapeptides and Ayurvedic Haritaki Extract, reputed to instantly volumise roots while stimulating the scalp for fuller, stronger hair.

Over at Dr Vegan, customers looking to stock up on the Hair Saviour supplement can take advantage of the brand’s subscription service. A three-month supply is available for £69.99, which equates to roughly 78p per day.

Customer reviews for Hair Saviour mirror Cox’s positive experience. Emma, aged 53, reported her hair “felt different within a month” following damage from bleaching.

She shared: “I had a hair disaster in 2020/21 when I decided to go blonde. I never thought I would ever get my hair back to a good condition. I started Hair Saviour and within a month my hair felt different. Soft, shiny hair was making a return, my hairdresser couldn’t believe how much it had grown between appointments. I am so thrilled to have healthy happy hair again and at 53 years old.”

Another customer, Rebecca, noticed her hair becoming smoother and less brittle despite battling an autoimmune disease. She shared: “I have taken Hair Saviour for a month now and my hair is already feeling smoother, sleeker, less frizzy and I can go much longer between washes without it getting greasy. With autoimmune illnesses and related meds, my hair is usually fine, brittle and falling out – genuinely feel this isn’t the case anymore. Can’t praise it enough.”

Some users have observed improvements in thickness, with some even noticing benefits beyond their hair, stating: “I’ve only been taking it for 5 weeks and I can see a difference already! My hair is in much better condition, my nails have grown, my eyebrows have grown as have my eyelashes. I am so impressed”.

However, not everyone has experienced the desired results, with one user expressing: “I’ve been using this product for well over six months now and to be honest I really can’t see any improvement in the volume or thickness of my hair. Saying that my hairdresser has noticed a difference? But my hair still looks the same to me. I still have it coloured and perhaps this doesn’t help. Trying to embrace my grey but struggling so revert to a colour. I’ll continue to use it until the end of the year and if I still feel the same.”

Another customer, Bev, shared: “You have to have patience and they will work. I took them for 3 months before I noticed lots new baby hairs filling in the thinning areas. I had tried everything including Regaine for women but it was dr vegan hair saviour that worked for me.”
