Popular theme park to get Harry Potter themed land | Europe | Travel

A new theme park attraction inspired by J. K. Rowling’s much-loved Harry Potter series has been announced, with fans set to enjoy an immersive overnight wizarding adventure complete with themed lodgings.

LEGOLAND Deutschland in Germany has revealed that a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences will transform the beloved franchise into a LEGO experience. Details about the brand new attraction remain closely guarded, with the park stating it will share additional details over the coming year.

In a statement, Peter van Roden, EVP of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, said: “We are always looking for new ways for the millions of Harry Potter fans around the world to extend the magic and further connect with the iconic films. This new destination will allow fans to step into in the familiar LEGO Harry Potter aesthetic they have been constructing for years and physically experience the wizarding world like never before.”

The first Harry Potter novel debuted in 1997, and the franchise has since expanded considerably, with eight Harry Potter films, three Fantastic Beasts pictures, a theatrical production, and a video game. While Harry Potter-themed lands already exist at some Universal resorts, and there’s also the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London where fans can explore the film’s shooting locations, this marks the first Wizarding World attraction for LEGO.

While many places offer unofficial wizard-themed accommodation based on the franchise, the park will provide the first official themed lodging, reports the Mirror

This news arrives as Potterheads eagerly anticipate the release of the HBO series, set to premiere in 2027. The show, which commenced filming in 2025, is planned to be produced over ten years across multiple seasons, each focusing on one of J. K. Rowling’s books.

Harry Potter and LEGO share a long history, with many sets themed around the franchise released over the years. The first Harry Potter LEGO set, the Sorting Hat, was launched back in 2001, and one of the most famous releases is the huge Hogwarts set. Made up of over 6,000 pieces, this set currently retails for £409 on LEGO’s official shop.

Germany’s LEGOLAND park is situated in Günzburg, just over an hour from Munich Airport. Flights are available from across the UK via airlines including British Airways, easyJet, and Lufthansa, and take just under two hours, making it easily reachable for British fans.

From the airport, you can catch a train to Günzburg, followed by regular buses that drop you off just outside the park.

The forthcoming Harry Potter-themed area will be a welcome addition to the park’s existing array of child-friendly attractions. These encompass LEGO NINJAGO World, MINILAND, featuring miniature models of renowned German and international landmarks, Knights’ Kingdom, and LEGO® X-TREME, home to a rollercoaster and a host of other adrenaline-pumping rides.
