A ‘brilliant’ crime thriller now available on Netflix is being touted as a must-watch for fans of Ocean’s Eleven.

If you were captivated by the George Clooney and Brad Pitt-led remake or the Frank Sinatra original, then the heist film 21 should be right up your street.

The movie is based on the non-fiction book Bringing Down the House, which tells the true story of how six students swindled millions from casinos.

The cinematic adaptation hit screens in 2008 and was a box office triumph, raking in nearly $160 million worldwide against a $35 million budget.

Its cast boasts Kevin Spacey as a professor guiding a group of gifted students, alongside British actor and musician Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth of Superman Returns and Barbarian fame, and Josh Gad from Frozen. Laurence Fishburne, known for his role in The Matrix, also features.

The plot centres around Ben Campbell (Sturgess), a bright student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology who needs to raise funds quickly to cover his tuition fees. He joins a team of students led by unconventional professor Mickey Rosa (Spacey), who use their mathematical prowess to hit the jackpot in Las Vegas, reports the Mirror.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics at the time, the film continues to enjoy a devoted following, particularly amongst viewers who’ve recently stumbled upon it on Netflix.
