Nintendo Switch 2 looks to finally be getting a Call of Duty game | Gaming | Entertainment

Switch 2 gamers are in for a treat with Nintendo reportedly planning to add a Call of Duty title to its games library for the first time in over a decade.

It comes after leakers spotted a code in CoD backend systems. RealityUK recently shared the revelation in a post on X with the configuration code explicity listing Nintendo among the game’s targeted platforms. Under the platform family system, Nintendo can be seen highlighted and assigned a specific value, suggesting a port is in active development.

Gamers eager to play the new Call of Duty on Switch 2 may not have to wait too long if Windows Central editor Jez Corden is to be believed.

“The first CoD Switch version is nearly done and launching in a few months,” he said in a reply to a social media post.

This will end a 13-year wait for Activision’s popular first-person shooter series on Nintendo consoles, with the last entry, Call of Duty: Ghosts, having launched on the Wii U back in November 2013.

It remains to be seen which Call of Duty game is heading to the Switch, but reports suggest it could be a Modern Warfare, the latest Black Ops 7, or a title specially optimised for Nintendo’s new console.

Performance will definitely be a cause of concern among gamers, but the Switch 2 is far more powerful than any Nintendo platform before it, so now is the perfect time for everyone’s favourite shooter to make the switch — pardon the pun.
