Next James Bond – Newly Oscar-nominated rising star ‘in 007 casting talks’ | Films | Entertainment

It’s been five years since Daniel Craig exploded himself out of the James Bond film franchise in No Time To Die.

Since then, Eon Productions has sold its entire 007 creative control to Amazon MGM Studios in a near $1 billion deal.

David Heyman and Amy Pascal are producing the Bond reboot and have hired Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to pen the script, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve.

And now, by the sounds of multiple sources, the latter is in serious consideration.

According to scooper Roger Friedman: “Rumours are Elordi’s had meetings with the producers and director Denis Villeneuve.” This was corroborated with World of Reel, who reported today: “Back in October, I had a well-placed source telling me that Amazon/MGM was quietly pushing for Elordi to be the next Bond, though no formal offer has been sent out, and that Elordi was likely to have a screen test in 2026 — the usual tuxedo fitting and action scene… Villeneuve is expected to have a say in the matter, and so far there’s been no indication of pushback on his part in terms of Elordi’s casting. In fact, if we take today’s reporting, it seems as though Elordi privately met with the filmmaker. A final decision is supposed to be made on the next 007 actor in mid-2026.”

The 28-year-old Australian hunk starred in Saltburn, played Elvis Presley in Priscilla and is set to act opposite Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights next month as Heathcliff. If that wasn’t enough, Elordi received his first Oscar nomination today for playing Frankenstein’s monster in Gulliermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. If cast he would be the youngest Bond and first Aussie to take up the Licence to Kill since as 29-year-old George Lazenby.
