New Xbox Game Pass tier spotted online – here’s what it could include | Gaming | Entertainment
Xbox Game Pass might have priced its Ultimate tier out of the means of most gamers with its price hikes last year, but it looks like a brand new tier could be on the way to provide a cheaper way to play.
As spotted by @redphx on X and reported by WindowsCentral, it looks like Microsoft could be working on a brand new tier that only allows access to certain games in the library. The redphx account is linked to the Better xCloud browser plugin which aims to improve the experience of using Xbox’s cloud streaming service via a browser.
As such, the service has access to some of Microsoft’s back-end services, which is where the new information came to light.
The browser plugin service spotted that there’s a new ‘Triton’ tier mentioned on Microsoft’s backend, which seems to be a new subscription tier that only grants access to Xbox Game Studio titles.
At the time of writing, those titles include:
Currently, Xbox Game Pass has three tiers – Essential, Premium and Ultimate, each awarding access to an increasing number of games with each tier. Microsoft raised the prices of these tiers in 2025, with the most expensive Ultimate tier now costing a whopping £22.99 per month.
With Xbox’s new leadership in Asha Sharma, the console maker could be looking for ways to make Game Pass more affordable for those who just want access to a more basic library of games – ones that the Xbox platform is known for.
That being said, there are some notable omissions from the list supplied by redphx, including Forza Horizon 5 and The Outer Worlds 1 and 2. So, it might not be that all brand new Xbox Game Studios titles comes to this mysterious ‘Triton’ tier, but instead hosts a slightly more dated catalogue.
Xbox is yet to announce any updates to Game Pass publicly. Would you subscribe to a brand new Game Pass tier if it had access to these games?
