New Netflix block stops some UK homes watching TV, are you affected?

Some UK homes will suddenly find they can no longer tune into Netflix. It seems that the popular streaming service is now being blocked on popular PlayStation consoles, which means anyone who uses one of these machines to tune into series such as Breaking Bad, Drive to Survive and Bridgerton will have to switch over to something new.

The update affects older PlayStation 3 devices (PS4 and PS5 machines are still compatible), with the block coming into force last week.

Some console owners have reported seeing a message stating: ‘Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after March 2, 2026. Visit netflix.com/compatible devices on your TV, phone, or computer to see a list of supported devices.’

Others have taken to social media to vent their frustrations with one user called Saul saying, “Netflix has stopped working on my PS3!”

Another, Akaash, said it was “The end of an era.”

There’s no word on why the PS3 has been removed from the Netflix compatibility list but it could simply to do with age.

This console first launched all the way back in 2,006, and it’s possible that it just can’t keep pace with all the latest updates and new Netflix releases.

If you are one of the unlucky ones who are using the PS3, then sadly, you will need to buy another device to continue watching.

It’s worth noting that most new smart TVs include Netflix access along with Sky boxes, Fire TV Sticks, tablets and smartphones.

More recent PlayStation consoles and Xbox gadgets also still work.

“You can watch Netflix on any supported smart TV, phone, tablet, streaming player, or game console that connects to the internet and offers the Netflix app, or at Netflix – Watch TV Shows Online, Watch Movies Online using a computer, Netflix explained.
