A high-stakes war thriller is coming to Netflix very soon and fans are already comparing it to the Predator films.

The new action film will star Reacher’s Alan Ritchson in a leading role, while Dennis Quaid, Stephan James and Jai Courtney are also in the cast.

The military movie, entitled War Machine, will see soldiers face an “unimaginable threat”, which is teased in an explosive new trailer from Netflix.

War Machine is directed by Patrick Hughes of The Hitman’s Bodyguard fame and also stars Esai Morales, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale and Daniel Webber.

The logline for the movie reads: “During the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.”

Netflix fans won’t have long to wait for War Machine to hit the small screen, as it will land on the streaming service in exactly a month’s time.

Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, viewers shared their reactions to the new trailer.

One film fan wrote: “This actually looks serious. Not the usual glossy military backdrop, but pressure, exhaustion, and consequences.”

“I can’t wait to watch this one,” a second commented, as another stated: “Just watched the trailer earlier. It’s looks a hell of a good ride for sure.”

One person called it a “must watch”, while another agreed: “This is exactly what I’ll watch for sure. I love such movies.”

One more viewer wrote: “Intense survival story with high stakes—looks like a gripping action film!”

However, not everyone was so positive, with one person writing: “Bet this turns into a Hollywood overhyped mess, just like every other war movie.”

A second commented: “Alan Ritchson makes this worthy of giving it a try. But I don’t have high hopes.”

Meanwhile, other fans couldn’t help comparing the new film to Predator, with one writing: “Predator vibes…but against a ‘Mech.”

“I’m getting some strong Predator vibes here,” another concurred, as one more admitted: “Predator but with a robot thing. Ok, I’ll give it a watch.”

The film is produced by Todd Lieberman and Alexander Young of Hidden Pictures, alongside Patrick Hughes and Greg McLean of HUGE FILM, with Rich Cook of Range serving as producer, and Valerie Bleth Sharp as executive producer.

War Machine is coming to Netflix on March 6.
