‘Masterpiece’ war film that’s ‘a perfect film’ – on Amazon Prime | Films | Entertainment


If you’re looking for a war film that will keep you on the edge of your seat, there’s one you simply must add to your list. The 1946 film has kept audiences entertained ever since its release and it’s stood the test of time with fans.

The Best Year Of Our Lives tells the story of three World War 2 veterans who return home forever changed and find it difficult to adjust to their new realities. The postwar Hollywood film was made at a time when the issue of veterans returning home was being faced by millions of families.

One person who watched the film on Rotten Tomatoes said: “A perfect film. So wonderful and beautiful and effective. A must see. If you know anything about anything you will know that this picture is top of the tops”

The film was directed by William Wyler and stars Fredric March, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, Virginia Mayo, Harold Russell and Teresa Wright.

The story is brought to life by a highly talented cast including who movingly portray the psychological problems faced by disabled veterans, reports say.

Hollywood’s Golden Age says the stories of the servicemen and their families are the personal dramas of ordinary people to which the audience can relate.

Another person who watched the film on IMDB said: “Sometimes, but very rarely, a movie tells a story so well that it almost becomes difficult.

“This movie tells several stories so well simultaneously that it was the first few times a movie I could not watch to completion.

“It was too real….and the characters SO STRONG that watching it became a personal struggle.

“Seeing these three men and their families deal with their hardships, one in particular, often hit me too hard.

“Now, I have watched in its entirety without interruption several times, and I realize what I always suspected. This movie is a masterpiece.

“The writing, the acting, the blending of several stories without being even the least bit choppy, everything about this movie is exceptional.

“Seven Academy Awards? No wonder, it certainly must have deserved them.”
