A crash on the M62 is causing long delays this evening, with drivers facing queues of up to 90 minutes. The collision happened on the eastbound side between Junction 11 at Birchwood and Junction 12 at the Eccles Interchange. National Highways said earlier that three of the four lanes were closed, but they have now confirmed that only one lane remains shut.

In a statement on X they said: “1 (of 4) lanes are now closed on the #M62 in #GreaterManchester eastbound between J11 and J12 following a multi vehicle collision. National Highways Traffic Officers are currently on scene dealing with traffic management. Recovery has been arranged for all vehicles.”

Traffic is still moving slowly through the area and delays are expected to continue into the evening. There is also a separate crash on the M6 southbound at Junction 20, which is adding to problems for drivers in Cheshire.
