Luxurious £6k 7-day train journey across Spain – used by the Royal Family – set to launch | Europe | Travel

A new seven-day train journey that will allow you to cover all of Spain’s cultural hotspots at a leisurely pace has been announced by a Spanish train company. The Al Andalus train offers sublime luxury and is made up of carriages used by the British Royal family, no less.

It will launch a new slow route from Seville to Madrid in spring 2026. Throughout the seven days, passengers will have the opportunity to explore the stunning natural beauty of the Andalusian countryside, from jaw-dropping UNESCO World Heritage sites to quaint villages.

Jerez de la Frontera, best known as the birthplace of Sherry, is one of the stops on the journey and here, passengers will be treated to an evening of equestrian ballet and Mérida, home to dozens of Roman ruins.

Some more of the unmissable highlights include the ‘city of three cultures’, Toledo, a fascinating blend of Christian, Muslim and Jewish architecture, the lively coastal hub of Cádiz and the awe-inspiring Great Mosque in Córdoba.

Passengers will likely not want to get off the Al Andalus, though, which has been modelled on the timeless elegance of the Belle Epoque, as there is a salon and games bar, gorgeous suites with 24-hour room service and two restaurants that serve traditional Spanish cuisine, among the train’s luxury amenities.

Trains depart from Seville on just nine dates throughout 2026 including on April 5 and 19, May 3 and 17, June 7 and 21, September 6 and 20 and October 4. Fares for the 2026 season start at €6,600 (around £5,690) per person for double occupancy in a Grand Class room.

It is a rolling five-star hotel on the tracks with world-class gastronomy, offering a chance to see Andalusia’s most dazzling sights. The Al Andalus isn’t just a train ride – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to journey through the heart of Spain.
