LEGO is getting a whole lot smarter. Earlier this year, the famous toy brand announced the launch of some new sets that feature Smart Brick technology. This brings things to life via flashing lights and interactive sounds, which change as you play. It’s really clever stuff with the Smart Brick interacting with unique Smart Tags and Smart Minifigures to offer different effects depending on the set.

For example, pop the Smart Brick in the new Darth Vader toy, and you’ll hear his famous voice during battles. Move the Smart Brick to Luke’s Red Five X-Wing and it blasts out the sounds of laser and R2D2 in the back. Smart Bricks can even interact with one another, allowing fans to have explosive duels.

LEGO wants to make this all about play, so there’s no need to use apps or smartphones to get up and running. The Smart Bricks are even rechargeable, so you can forget about annoying batteries. If any of that sounds enticing, these new sets are now finally available to buy with stores including Argos and LEGO stocking them.

At launch, there are three full Smart Brick sets, which include everything needed to get up and running, along with five sets that are simply compatible with Smart Brick technology.
