Ibiza, a beloved destination for Brits, is known for its scorching weather, stunning beaches and vibrant party scene in the Balearic Islands. However, the island’s allure can lead to overcrowding during the summer months as hordes of tourists descend on its idyllic shores, reports MirrorOnline.

The silver lining is that there are less frequented parts of the island, often slightly more challenging to reach, providing an easy escape from the throngs (or simply a day’s respite from the relentless hustle and bustle). For instance, adventurous travellers have been known to venture to the lesser-known Cala d’en Serra, a picturesque cove nestled amidst lush greenery. While it’s not a major tourist hotspot, there are some amenities available, such as sunbeds and a small snack bar for refreshments, along with an abandoned hotel that has become a graffiti and street art hub.

Do bear in mind, however, that it is a nudist-friendly beach.

On the other hand, Playa Galera is famed for offering some of the island’s most breathtaking sunset views. But due to its lack of a bustling promenade and numerous bars, it’s not typically a first choice for holidaymakers during the summer months.

If you’re not bound by school holiday dates, consider visiting in September and October when the island still enjoys temperatures of around 23C-27C, accompanied by plenty of sunshine.

For walkers, Cala Llentrisca has long been a favoured spot as it’s nestled amongst dramatic clifftops, requiring robust footwear for the path leading down to the narrow stretch of sand.

Whilst locals are well aware of its existence, tourists often miss this gem as it caters more to adventurous types rather than those seeking sun loungers and cocktails in the Mediterranean heat.

One method of reaching these secluded spots is by vessel. Boat hire platform SamBoat has seen a 75% surge in reservations through its UK website over the past year, with growing numbers of Britons choosing maritime day excursions across  Europe.

Industry experts have highlighted Ibiza as amongst the locations where visitors can discover numerous secret treasures away from the masses.

They revealed: “Beyond the party scene lies an Ibiza few tourists ever see, sailors are heading out to the island’s lesser-known spots such as Cala Llentrisca, Atlantis, and Cala d’en Serra, all best reached by water.

“Renting a small motorboat for the day lets you hop from one secret cove to another, anchoring up for beach picnics or snorkelling in gin-clear waters. No skipper needed, just a sense of adventure and some ice-cold drinks.”

Ibiza isn’t the only bustling island where you can discover tranquil, lesser-known locations away from the throngs of holidaymakers. Despite this summer witnessing lines of tourists at the most picturesque viewpoints, Santorini is another favourite destination where you can find numerous serene spots to enjoy those picture-perfect sunset views, or relish in areas frequented by locals rather than tourists.
