One woman who visited every English county has revealed which one she believes is the best. England is home to 48 counties, varying in size and natural landscape. Many people consider England’s most scenic spots to be dotted around the coastal parts of the country, but there are breathtaking spots in the middle of the country, featuring rolling hills, rich green forests and serene lakes. One of those counties, according to one woman, is Derbyshire.

An online blogger, who goes by the alias Slummy Single Mummy, shared her journey around every county in England. She set herself the goal of visiting all of them before she turned 40. Having already seen quite a few, she had a few more to tick off the list. After she had them all completed, she said that Derbyshire was her favourite. While it doesn’t feature staggering seacliffs or sweeping beaches, Derbyshire is home to some of the most stunning scenery in the country.

The blogger, who travelled around the country in a motorhome, revealed: “Of all the counties we visited, Derbyshire was my favourite; the scenery was just beautiful. Travelling in a motorhome gives you a whole different view of the landscape too – the higher position means you can see over hedges and stone walls and further into the distance, making everything seem somehow more dramatic.”

For many, Derbyshire is a magical place. It is home to a chunk of the Peak District and lovely towns and villages. Whether you are into history, nature or culture, there is probably something for you in Derbyshire.

One of the most famous attractions here is the various Peak District sites, most of which are located within Derbyshire’s borders. These include Stanage Edge and Mam Tor, where the views are unbeatable.

There is also the stunning valley of Dovedale, which stretches between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Here, you will witness some stunningly green hills on either side of the River Dove.

On TripAdvisor, the highest-rated thing to do in Derbyshire is the Heights of Abraham, which is a cable car ride that takes visitors to a hilltop park for amazing views of the surrounding scenery. Describing their experience, one reviewer said: “We had a great time, lots more to do than we expected . If you’re unsure about the cables, don’t be, it is so worth it, and the views are amazing.”

Other top-rated things to do in Derbyshire include Poole’s Cavern & Country Park, Hardwick Hall & Gardens, Calke Abbey, Carsington Water and The National Tramway Museum.

As well as stunning nature, Derbyshire is home to some lovely towns and villages. These include Bakewell, Castleton, Tissington and Hartington.
