If you have been thinking of getting a new Android phone but don’t want to spend the earth, Google has just lifted the lid on a brand new Android phone that should hopefully fit the bill.

In a somewhat surprising move, Google just went ahead and posted a full reveal short video on social media of the previously unannounced Pixel 10a, confirming the phone as the successor to the excellent Pixel 9a.

Google released its Pixel 10 series back in August 2025, and the tech giant usually waited about six months to follow up its flagships with an A-series phone with the same number.

Interestingly, Google even revealed the date you will be able to pre-order the new Pixel font and centre in the promo video, shown here posted on the official Made by Google account on X:

The Pixel 10a will be available to pre-order on February 18, according to the video. The same video was posted on Google’s official Pixel UK Instagram page too, confirming that UK based Android fans will be able to buy the new Pixel 10a on that date.

The Pixel 9a was delayed last year, and didn’t hit shelves until April. That means it will only have been out for 10 months before being replaced – perhaps that’s why the images of the Pixel 10a give away the fact the two phones look practically identical.

We’ll have to wait for official specs, price and reviews of the Pixel 10a to properly judge whether it is overly similar to the 9a, but the video shows a blue phone that could easily be mistaken for last year’s device. But given Pixel A-series phones usually have fresh designs year to year, it’s a bit of a shame that this one looks like a copy and paste job at first.

One of the perks of the Pixel 9a (my favourite phone of 2025) was its lack of camera bump for its dual lenses, with only a tiny, millimetre or so ridge around them. On the video, renders of the Pixel 10a suggest Google may have even shaved that off, so we could be left with a phone with absolutely no camera bump.

I’d welcome that given that camera modules add bulk and weight to many phones, and the fact that Pixels consistently have excellent main sensors, so the 10a could be a sensible buy if you want solid cameras without the chonk.

That said, we don’t know how much the Pixel 10a will cost when it goes on sale on February 18. No other specs or features are apparent from the teaser video, but hopefully Google doesn’t increase the £499 RRP the Pixel 9a sold for.

That phone is now regularly on sale for £349, a much better price for Android bahrain hunters. We’ll have to assess if the Pixel 10a is worth the extra spend when it is officially, fully announced – presumably on February 18.
