Forget Ring, Amazon offers a cheaper way to secure your home
The Ring Doorbell has been made famous thanks to its simple utility of being able to see who is at the door and easier monitor the comings and goings outside your home. But if you want a bit more peace of mind when it comes to home security, Ring is not the only brand with devices to get the job done.
Right now you can save big on the Blink Mini 2K+, with the indoor plug-in home security camera discounted to just £21.99 in a limited time deal on Amazon. The smart home device is usually £39.99, so this is a sizable 45 percent saving.
Just like Ring, Blink is actually owned by Amazon, so the brands’ products are quite similar.
The Blink Mini 2K+ is a great choice if you want to monitor things indoors rather than outside the front door. It looks like the perfect affordable choice for keeping an eye on your pets when you’re out running errands, but the camera can also come into its own when you head off for your summer holiday.
All you need to do is check using the Blink app and you’ll be able to see a live feed of what’s going on. You can even say hi to the dog and cat with two-way audio via your smartphone, so you can reassure Fido you’ll be home any minute now – or discourage him from chewing the coffee table leg.
The Mini 2K+ has 2K video resolution, as the name suggests, and even has 4x zoom if you need to hone in on something going on. You’ll also get smart notifications if a person is detected, which would be cause for concern if you were away.
The camera also has vehicle detection should you want to mount it outside – but you’ll need a Weather Resistant Power Adapter for that, which is sold separately. Even when inside, the unit will need to be plugged into a power source to work.
If you have a Blink Video Doorbell, the Mini 2K+ can be used as a door chime, which is handy.
Buying the Blink Mini 2K+ for just £21.99 also gets you a 30-day free trial of the Blink Subscription Plus Plan. Although the camera is cheap, you do really need to invest in a monthly subscription in order to access all its features. The Plus plan costs £8 per month, but you can opt for the Basic if you prefer, which is only £2.50 per month – but this only covers one device.
If you have several Blink gadgets, it’s the Plus plan you’ll need. Still, £8 per month might be worth it for peace of mind in your home, and to keep in earshot of the animals.
It’s not clear how long this offer is on for, and the discount is only on the black model, not the white one.
