Claudia Winkleman’s go-to fragrance is up to 40% off

With the new season of BBC One’s The Traitors underway and Strictly Come Dancing in full swing Claudia Winkleman has all eyes on her. As well as emulating her wardrobe, fans can get their hands on her signature scent for up to 40% less thanks to a Debenhams offer.

Speaking to Grazia magazine a few months back, the TV personality, known for her distinctive fringe, revealed that she only ever wears one fragrance, according to the Mirror

She told the publication: “I only wear Yves Saint Laurent Opium EDP [Eau de Parfum]. I always opt for the classic, old, brown bottle – it smells of pure filth. It’s the best smell – it’s musky and it’s dirty. I don’t want to smell girly, I don’t want to smell like I’ve just walked across a meadow. I don’t want any of that. I want to smell like sex!”

The iconic fragrance was launched by YSL in 1977 and has remained a firm favourite among fans of spicy, musky scents. Its notes are a blend of spices, florals, and musk, along with resins like amber and myrrh that make it “sultry, provocative, and addictive”, according to the brand.

The best deal on Claudia’s go-to is currently at Debenhams, where a 90ml bottle of Opium EDP is 40% off, slashing the price from £130 to £78. A 50ml bottle is also on sale, but as it is only 20% off, the discounted price works out to £77.60.

This means that fans of Claudia – and classic fragrance – can get 40ml more perfume by paying an extra 40p. They can also get free express delivery by using the code EXPRESSDEL at checkout.

Elsewhere, LookFantastic is offering 25% off on the same 90ml bottle of EDP, with the price falling from £130 to £97.50.

For those who prefer a lighter scent, the perfume’s Eau de Toilette (EDT) version is also discounted across the web, with the best deal offered by Fragrance Direct. Thanks to a 35% discount on a 90ml bottle of EDT, the price falls from £115 to £74.95, saving shoppers £40. Boots  is also offering the same variant for £21.50 below its standard cost (from £107 to 85.50), while AllBeauty has cut the price by 33%, working out as £38.05 in savings (£115 to £76.95).

The TV star isn’t alone in her admiration for the scent, with fans online showering it with praise..

“This is and will always be my go-to perfume, the smell just makes you feel warm…I have bought this perfume for well over 20 + years”, said one shopper.

Another wrote: “I’ve been using this for 40 years now and as long as it is available, I will be buying it!”

A third fan, who snapped a bottle up in the sale, said: “This is the only perfume I can wear, and wear it I do. So when it was such a brilliant offer I grabbed it quick.”

Another review called it a “wonderful rich perfume, with long-lasting aroma” that “stays all day”.

It should be noted that Eau de Toilette formulas tend to be lighter than Eau de Parfum, and therefore don’t last as long – so shoppers who are considering purchasing Opium should also think about the kind of longevity they prefer.
