Cassettes are back with an upgrade your old Sony Walkman could never match

Bored with smartphones and the constant distractions of social media and endless WhatsApp group chats pinging up on the screen? If you fancy going back to a time when life felt a lot simpler, then the audio team at Gadhouse may have just the thing. The tech firm has just announced the launch of its latest cassette player, which is just like that old Sony Walkman you used to have strapped over your shoulder.

The retro-style portable Miko Cassette Player gets an old-school design inspired by the 80s and 90s.

Chunky buttons continue the classic feel, and a translucent case lets you see the tape spinning as it plays. It also lets you record top tapes as well as play music.

“The Gadhouse MIKO Cassette Player combines nostalgic charm with contemporary convenience,” the firm explained.

“Featuring a stylish transparent finish to see the mechanics in action.”

That all sounds pretty familiar, but one thing this device can do that your old cassette player couldn’t is link up to headphones and speakers via Bluetooth.

“Modern connectivity features help bridge the gap between classic and contemporary listening habits,” Gadhouse explianed. “Integrated Bluetooth 5.3 functionality allows the Miko Cassette Player to wirelessly connect to compatible headphones or speakers, while a traditional 3.5 mm stereo output ensures compatibility with wired audio equipment.”

The latest technology lets you beam music to all your sound accessories wirelessly. There’s also power via USB-C for continuous playback without the need for batteries.

“Almost a year in the making, our team has obsessed over every detail of Miko,” said Petch Watcharaphon, Co-founder of Gadhouse. “We’re excited to introduce our first cassette product from Gadhouse. With such an eye-catching design, she truly has an attitude all her own, drawing heavy influence from the 1985–1995 era.”

The Gadhouse Miko Cassette Player is available for £59.99 GBP from Gadhouse global partners and directly from the Gadhouse website with Amazon, HMV, Currys, Tesco and John Lewis expected to stock soon.
