Believe it or not, despite selling well over 30 million copies to become one of the best-selling games of the decade, there are still some people that haven’t played Hogwarts Legacy.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan that falls into this category, then there’s no longer any excuse, because Hogwarts Legacy is currently free to download and keep, no strings attached.

It’s all part of the Epic Games Store’s weekly game giveaway, where the company gives away at least one game every week completely free of charge.

Unfortunately, the deadline to nab your free copy is creeping up fast, with the game leaving the service and going back to full price at 4pm GMT UK time on December 18. 

How to claim your free copy of Hogwarts Legacy

To obtain a free copy of Harry Potter spinoff Hogwarts Legacy, head over to the Epic Games Store and login to you account – or create one for free in a matter of minutes.

After signing in, visit the Hogwarts Legacy store page and click the ‘GET’ button on the right hand side of the page to add it to your Epic Games library.

Once it’s in your library, you can download and play it whenever you like. You don’t have to be a subscriber, it’s yours to keep.

This is the PC version of the game, so you’ll need a reasonably decent PC or handheld to play it.

How long is the offer available?

The bad news is that Hogwarts Legacy is only free until 4pm GMT UK time on December 18.

Because it’s the festive season, expect it to be replaced by another blockbuster game giveaway.
