Home Alone

Fans of the franchise will be thrilled to hear the entire set of films is available to watch on Disney Plus, including the 1990 classic.

Macaulay Culkin’s Christmas comedy made him a child star, and it boasted the title of the highest-grossing live-action comedy for two decades.

The film is widely considered to be one of the best Christmas films and in 2023, it was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.

Taking to IMDb reviews to share their thoughts, MovieAddict2016 hailed it a “heartwarming holiday family classic”, adding: “All in all, Home Alone is probably the best Christmas movie to rise out of the film industry in the last twenty years.

“It seamlessly blends humor, pain, emotion, human instinct and some great booby-traps all into one little bundle. This film has stood the test of time greatly.”

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

An unconventional Christmas favourite, The Chronicles of Narnia has been described as an “incredible” fantasy even 20 years after its initial release.

The film is based on the 1950 novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and it was nominated for many awards when it was first distributed.

The story follows four British children who are evacuated during the Blitz to a countryside estate, where they find a wardrobe that leads to the fantasy world of Narnia, where they ally with the lion Aslan (voiced by Liam Neeson) against the forces of Jadis, the White Witch (Tilda Swinton).

On IMDb reviews, zoe-girl-32 called it “an incredible story of love, forgiveness, bravery and sacrifice”, adding: “One might expect a silly story about kids who talk to animals and fairies and learn lessons and stuff like that, but the story is so much more intricate and spectacular.

“More than just a ‘good story’, it’s a one-of-a-kind adventure. I give this movie ten.”

A Very Jonas Christmas Movie

Released in November 2025, the Christmas musical comedy film stars The Jonas Brothers – Kevin, Joe and Nick, as well as Will Ferrell in an epic cameo.

The film received positive reviews from critics and the story follows the brothers after their European tour in London, as they bicker about their roles within the band.

Santa Claus, who does not want them to part ways, puts a curse on them, meaning they cannot return home until they have worked out their issues.

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 92% approval rating, with fans praising the music and comedy.

Vii F said: “Very entertaining, funny and full of catchy songs! A must see for the entire family! It made us love the Jonas brothers even more!”

Freakier Friday

A highly anticipated follow-up to the 2003 film, Freakier Friday was released in the summer of 2025 and it saw the epic return of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.

The second film is set 22 years after the first body swapping incident, with a now-adult Anna Coleman (Lohan) working as a music producer and raising her teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters).

Curtis and Lohan even said during the press tour for the film they would be willing to make another sequel, suggesting it could happen “sooner” than another 20 years.

Taking to IMDb reviews, darknightly gave it 10 out of 10, saying: “Being an absolute fan of the original film remake in 2003, I had high hopes for the sequel.

“I’m glad to say that it lived up the hype. This is Lindsay Lohan’s big comeback and she absolutely shines in this role. She’s amazing at physical comedy and has the comedic chops to pull it off. Jamie Lee Curtis herself is like a big kid and she seamlessly plays the role of Tess and Lily.

“I’m confident this movie has rewatch potential and it will be a comfort movie for many in the years to come.”

Zootropolis

Zootropolis, or Zootopia as it is otherwise called, saw its sequel film release in November 2025 and it took the world by storm, earning $1 billion globally just 17 days after its debut.

After hitting the huge milestone, the film became the fastest PG-rated film to ever take the title. It is only the second Hollywood film to hit $1 billion this year, behind Chinese film Ne Zha 2.

While the second film is still in cinemas, the first, which was released back in 2016, is available to watch on Disney Plus.

The family film follows rabbit Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin ), a rookie police officer, and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a con artist fox, as they team up to uncover a conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators.

On IMDb reviews, emmabarclay-61012 gave it 10 out of 10, hailing the film “next level funny”, adding: “Zootopia leaves all other Disney 3D animations in the dust. The plot, characters, styling, quality of animation and script are so spot on.

“I could watch this film a thousand times and not grow bored. If you haven’t seen it, stop what you are doing and watch it.”
