EA has announced that a huge slate of nostalgic map remakes are coming to Battlefield 6 this year, including perhaps the most iconic location of the series.
Battlefield Studios just revealed its 2026 roadmap for Battlefield 6, which included a brief glimpse of the brand new maps, experiences and features we can expect to arrive later in the year. Players can expect two new maps in Season 3 and 4 – but only one of those will be a completely original design.
The other three are all remakes of previous maps in the Battlefield series, and they’re heavy hitters. They include Railway to Golmud, Cairo Bazaar, and Wake Island.

Railway to Golmud is a re-imagining of Battlefield 4’s Golmud Railway, an expansive map set on a mountainside with a trainline running through the centre of it. Battlefield Studios explains that the map has been recreated from the group up with the design spread out to better accommodate the gameplay of BF6.
It will feature all-out warfare including tanks, helicopters and jets with the aerial playspace expanded out compared to the original BF4 design.
The train that runs through the centre of the map will once again be a capture point, moving in the direction of whichever team currently has it captured. This was a dynamic gameplay device in Battlefield 4, so it’s great to see it return in BF6.

Cairo Bazaar has a new name, but a familiar layout. It’s another remake of the original Grand Bazaar map from Battlefield 3, which is remembered as a close quarters favourite.
With tight, meandering corridors in the centre, it’s ideal for infantry gameplay. However, it’s also got wider streets circulating the outer ring which plays host to some vehicular gameplay, similar to Siege of Cairo.
Both of these maps will be arriving in Season 3, which kicks off in May.
Skipping ahead to July, Season 4 will welcome in naval combat with the return of Wake Island. This map was first seen in Battlefield 1942 and has since reappeared in 9 other titles.
Wake Island will be joined by a brand new map called Tsuru Reef, which is set to be the biggest map in Battlefield 6 to date.
Both of these maps will have functioning aircraft carriers where players can launch jets from.
If that wasn’t enough, Battlefield Studios is also promising three new maps in Season 5, which is scheduled for Fall 2026. There’s no word on what these new maps will be – although a teaser image drops a hint at what one of them could be, I’m not 100% sure what it could be.
Will you be returning to Battlefield 6 to try these nostalgia filled maps?
