Avatar Fire and Ash IMAX 3D best and worst seating unveiled by James Cameron | Films | Entertainment

Avatar: Fire and Ash is well on the way to crossing the $2 billion mark like its two predecessors, following a $136 million opening day worldwide.

The best way to view the movie is in IMAX 3D and now writer-director James Cameron has revealed the best and worst seats in the cinema based on sound and visuals.

In a new video, the Oscar-winner said: “You have a peripheral field of view and you have a sort of primary central field of view. So I like to sit where the screen just kind of fills my peripheral vision.”

Holding up a card containing an IMAX screen seat map, Cameron continued: “If I’m reading this properly, that’s probably somewhere around in here.”

The acclaimed filmmaker was pointing to the middle of the middle, but slightly towards the front of the section.

He continued, pointing to the middle of the middle, but slightly towards the back: “Now the sound is actually optimised for a little farther back, so some people back here are getting the very best sound, but they’re not getting the fully immersive 3D experience.”

Cameron added: “And I would say, if you’re a visual person you sit up in here [in the front of the middle of the middle] and if you’re a sound person, you sit back in here [in the back of the middle of the middle]. Sides are never good.”

Pointing to the far right seat of the front row, he said: “That’s the worst seat in the house.”

Avatar: Fire and Ash is out now in cinemas.
