Argos offers bestselling Android phone for just £60 in ‘lowest price’ sale

I’ll state the perhaps obvious caveat that the Moto E15 is by no means a powerful device. It has an incredibly low-power processor, so you will not be able to play any demanding mobile games on it – Candy Crush Saga at very best, I would imagine.

It also only has 64GB storage, which is not much, and it is not compatible with 5G networks.

But if all you need is a 4G phone to call, text, WhatsApp, check emails and take the occasional photo, the Moto E15 can do it. Whether you want to spend as little as possible on a phone, or if you need to pick up something inexpensive as a backup or for your child, this phone could fit the bill.

Other Argos shoppers seem to agree, as on the Moto E15’s listing page it is said to be Argos’ “No. 1 Best Seller in SIM free phones”. It has also been ordered more than 180 times this week, according to Argos, so it’s certainly proving popular with bargain hunters across the UK.

The Moto E15 is available in Denim Blue colour and has a 6.67-inch 90Hz LCD screen. This won’t be as vibrant as on the latest iPhone, but it’ll get the job done. It’s protected with Gorilla Glass 3, while the rest of the body of the phone is plastic, the back finished with a silicon polymer faux leather effect.

On the back is a 32MP camera that will be perfectly good for daylight shots of friends and family to send on WhatsApp or post to Instagram, but be aware there is no ultrawide or telephoto lens here – as you might expect for the price here.

Around the front is an 8MP camera suitable for selfies and video calls, but don’t expect tip top quality.

Be aware too that this phone runs on Android Go, a version of Android that is streamlined to work on phones with 2GB RAM, which this phone has. This means you shouldn’t expect this phone to be particularly zippy, but it should be OK if you just use one app at a time.

One thing to note is that this phone will only receive software updates until the end of 2026 – so if you want a phone that will continue to get security updates after that time, you might need to spend a bit more on something else, such as the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G which is on sale for £159.99 at Amazon.

Battery life on the Moto E15 should be excellent though thanks to a low-powered setup but very large 5,200mAh cell. There’s a USB-A to USB-C cable in the box but no charger.

As long as you’re aware this phone is as cheap as they come because it is about as basic as Android phones can get, this could be a money-saving way to get a new smartphone.
