Argos dishes out new iPhone at ‘lowest ever’ price but deal comes with a warning
If you are in need of a new iPhone, now is a good and bad time to go online shopping. A number of UK stores, including Amazon, Argos and Currys, have cut the cost of the latest iPhone 16e to the ‘lowest ever’ price. That means you can now pop one of these call makers in your online shopping basket for just £499 – £100 less than when it launched last year.
As you can read in our full iPhone 16e review, this is a solid smartphone that offers plenty of premium features such as a fast A18 processor, tough design with Ceramic Shield glass and long battery life.
It even gets bonus extras like the Action Button, an impressive rear camera, and satellite messaging should you be in need of help and can’t get a mobile signal.
£499 is a very good price for an iPhone that is less than a year old. You can see some of those deals below.

If you are going to splash out, then now is clearly a good time to buy, but be warned. Rumours are rife that Apple is about to upgrade the iPhone 16e with a new model that might be called the iPhone 17e.
The US firm never reveals any secrets until an actual launch, but it’s thought this new device could arrive in the first part of 2026. That would make sense as the iPhone 16e launched in February last year.
Upgrades that could appear on this device include MagSafe charging, which is currently missing from the 16e, and the improved Dynamic Island notch, which transforms as you use the device.
A faster processor could also improve overall performance, and Apple might introduce some new colours rather than just black and white.
Of course, this is just a rumour for now, but be aware that the current, and now reduced, iPhone 16e might look a little outdated in the coming months.
