Amazon slashes prices on tablets, Fire TV Sticks and Echo – and you don’t need Prime
Amazon’s October Prime Big Deal Days sale is now over, only lasting Tuesday and Wednesday this week, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t grab a bargain before the week is up.
The retailer is continuing to discount many of its most popular first-party devices including Fire TV Sticks, Echo Speakers, colour screen Fire tablets and Ring video doorbells and cameras.
Best of all, these deals do not require you to be an Amazon Prime subscriber, unlike the Big Deal Days sale.
One of the most eye-catchingly affordable offers is the Fire TV Stick HD for £19.99. At half price, this stick plugs into the HDMI port of any telly and can stream from all the major streaming apps such as Netflix as long as you’re connected to your home Wi-Fi.
Also on offer is the Echo Dot speaker, which is just £29.99, 45 percent less than its usual £54.99 price. Hooked up to Wi-Fi, this mains-powered gadget is at your beck and call to play music, listen to the radio, answer questions, tell you weather, set alarms and timers and much more besides. All you have to do is ask Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant.
If you’d like some of this Alexa tech but with a screen attached, Amazon’s Echo Show 5 is discounted right down to £49.99 from £89.99. It can do everything the Echo Dot can but with a display attached it can show you photos, album art from songs playing, recipes, or even take video calls.
If you prefer a more portable screen, the Fire HD 8 tablet is currently half price, also at £49.99. It’s Amazon’s most affordable and compact colour screen slate with an HD display, and 32GB storage. That’s not loads, but if all you want to do is stream from Prime Video or Disney+ in bed and read your Kindle books, it’ll do the job.

Just bear in mind these items may be discounted due to the fact Amazon has just announced a slew of new ones, including an Echo Dot Max and a totally redesigned line up of Echo Shows. They don’t go on sale until later this month, so Amazon is likely trying to shift a lot of its current stock.
That’s not to say these older devices are a bad investment. They can do an awful lot considering their low prices.
You could also pick up a Ring Battery Video Doorbell for £39.99, which is a big saving from the £99.99 RRP. Fixed to your front porch and connected wirelessly to the Ring app, you can be alerted when someone’s at the door and even speak to them thanks to the mic, and see them thanks to the camera that also acts as a security measure when you’re not home.
You may need a Ring subscription to access all the features, mind, but the current discount could sway you.
Elsewhere you can also pick up other tablets such as the Fire HD 10 for £69.99, the high-end Fire Max 11 for £129.99 and the alarm clock-like Echo Spot for £44.99, which is a small Echo speaker with a time read out to make a great bedside companion. That’s down from £79.99.
Amazon states that most of these deals will end at 11:59pm UK time on Tuesday October 14, so you have a few days to take advantage of the savings.
