Amazon just made its budget Ring camera rival even cheaper

If you like the idea of a Ring doorbell but would rather a general security camera than smart doorbell, there’s an offer on one of Amazon’s newest gadgets that might appeal. Right now, you can pick up the latest Blink outdoor camera with all the mod cons for half its usual price.

The Blink Outdoor Camera 2K+ is the newest generation model, and it has been reduced down to £44.99 from £89.99 – a stellar deal if you don’t mind the white colourway, as the black one is still full price.

Amazon says this is a “limited time deal”, so we’re not sure how long this lower price will last. If you have been thinking of outfitting your home with an outdoor security camera, this one could do the trick without breaking the bank.

The Blink Outdoor Camera 2K+ offers 2K video resolution and colour vision even in low light, making it a good choice if you think rival smart cameras – or perhaps even the one you have at the moment – don’t have the best video capabilities. If you want to go back over footage to really see something clearly, the newest cameras, such as the one discounted here, are probably the way to go.

Despite the small size, the Outdoor Camera 2K+ can zoom up to 4x, meaning you can remotely zoom in (using the companion phone app) to see who is on your driveway or to see what package exactly has been left on your doorstep.

Just like a smart doorbell, the camera also has two-audio, so visitors can use the in-built mic and speakers to chat to you if you aren’t there. Luckily wherever you fix it on the outside of your house, the Blink camera is fully dust and water resistant so it can survive the elements no matter the weather.

This affordable camera also comes with Blink’s essential Sync Module Core, which is a necessary plug-in Wi-Fi hub that can connect multiple Blink cameras to the internet, which they need to do in order to function.

That hub stays plugged into the wall socket connected to your home Wi-Fi, which lets it talk to the poor old camera in the wind and rain on the outside of your house.

One thing to note is that to get the most out of this Blink camera, you need to sign up to the Blink Subscription Plan. This costs £2.50 per month for one Blink device, which will work a treat if you only need this camera.

With the subscription, you can view live video feeds, get unlimited cloud storage of all your recordings for up to 30 days, person detection, and a few other functions that are likely vital for you to get the most out of the Outdoor Camera 2K+.

The camera is powered by two AA batteries, which Blink says should get you up to two years of power, so you won’t be constantly left in the lurch with a dead gadget.

If you want a bit more peace of mind about your home security, this camera could be the way to get it.
