Amazon dishes out Samsung Galaxy phones for £169 but Argos has a cheaper deal
If spending £800 on a Galaxy flagship feels way too much for your bank balance to cope with, there are some new deals that make owning a new smartphone feel far more affordable. Amazon has just confirmed a massive discount on Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G, which drops the cost from £199 down to just £169. For that low price, you get a device with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, triple-lens camera and a big battery for all-day usage.
As the name suggests, it also gets 5G connectivity for speedy downloads away from home, and there’s a fast Exynos 1330 processor under its shell.
This phone clearly isn’t as feature-packed as the Galaxy S25, but it’s a solid second phone or good for those who simply want to access messaging apps, send a few emails and snap the odd photo.
There are a couple of things to note about this offer. Firstly, it ends later today, January 20. Secondly, Amazon isn’t the cheapest place to buy a Galaxy A17.
Argos is also offering a similar phone for just £139.99. The only thing this call maker doesn’t have is 5G connectivity, with Argos selling the 4G model instead.
For those not aware, 5G is faster than 4G and also offers an improved connection, especially at busy stations or people-packed stadiums.
However, 4G is still perfectly fine for most people’s needs and is easily quick enough to surf the web, send emails and even stream movies when away from fixed-line broadband.
Those wanting the very best Galaxy experience might be best waiting before buying any new phone.
Rumours are rife that Samsung is about to unleash its next-generation Galaxy S26, which could be shown to the world as soon as next month.
This flagship range could get a new design, improved cameras and a faster Snapdragon processor.
