Four travel firms have ceased trading in 2026 and cancelled all bookings.

With jet fuel prices soaring following the Iran crisis and international travel hit with uncertainty thanks to travel warnings, there could yet be more companies pushed to breaking point.

When holiday businesses do collapse, bookings are cancelled and holidaymakers lose their trip and their money, unless their firm was covered by ATOL protection.

In January, Regen Central Ltd went into liquidation and cancelled all trips without refunds.

The firm, which was founded in Hertfordshire in 2011 before moving to London, lost its ATOL protection on January 13.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said Regen Central had no outstanding ATOL protect bookings, and that those sold as accommodation only, non flight or flight only bookings are not protected by ATOL.

On January 23, British coach operator Gold Crest Holidays ceased trading on January 23, shutting down its business with immediate effect.

All future trips and packages were cancelled. The family owned West Yorkshire firm which had been running for 30 years said rising costs were to blame for its decision to stop running.

It said in a statement on its website: “After more than 30 years of creating unforgettable holidays, we are deeply saddened to announce that Gold Crest Holidays has ceased trading with immediate effect and has taken steps to enter voluntary liquidation.

“This difficult decision follows the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, strategic changes in key partner arrangements that adversely affected our business, and a challenging trading environment with significantly rising costs.

“We are immensely grateful to our loyal customers, travel agents, suppliers, and dedicated staff for your support over the years. We are truly sorry we can no longer continue.

“All future departures are cancelled. The ABTA bond provides protection. ABTA will handle refunds and assistance. Contact ABTA at: Phone: 0203 758 8730.”

In March, the firm entered voluntary liquidation according to documents filed with Companies House.

Asiara UK, previously known as Haivenu Tours, launched in 2022 and offered packages across Asian destinations like China, Thailand and India.

On January 21, the firm ceased trading. No current bookings were affected, however, as the Ipswich business had no future bookings at the time it was shuttered, according to the Protected Trust Services.

The firm was then dissolved via voluntary strike-off on January 23.

Simply Florida, based in Glasgow in Scotland, was a travel agents which organised trips to Disneyland Paris, DisneyWorld Florida, Universal Studios, New York, Niagara Falls and Toronto as well as cruises.

The firm filed to be removed from Companies House in October and formally ceased trading on January 20.

Holidaymakers with trips booked would have seen them cancelled, but the firm was ATOL protected, so should have been issued refunds.
