Strait of Hormuz chaos as Iran to only allow 15 ships to pass through | World | News

Iran will only allow a maximum of 15 ships per day to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports. An Iranian source told Russian outlet TASS that the movement of ships through the vital waterway depends on whether Iran gives consent and the ships follow a specific protocol.

They added that the rules have been compiled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and warned that “there will be no return to the pre-war status quo”. They said: “Under the current ceasefire, no more than 15 vessels are permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz per day.

“This movement is strictly dependent on Iran’s consent and adherence to a specific protocol.

“This new legal framework, supervised by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been officially communicated to the parties in the region. There will be no return to the pre-war status quo.”

Amid the two-week ceasefire, the source added that Iran’s frozen assets must be released and the UN Security Council must create a resolution to end the war.

They said: “The unfreezing of Iran’s frozen assets is a crucial guarantee that must be implemented within these two weeks.”

Iran also warned it could launch new attacks on Israel in retaliation for strikes on Lebanon this week, while also threatening to withdraw from the ceasefire altogether.

Speaking to the Fars news agency, a military source said Tehran is “finalising preparations to carry out a deterrent operation against Zionist regime military positions in the occupied territories”.

They said the regime’s view is that “either the US is unable to control Netanyahu or that CENTCOM has issued a free-hand order to the Zionist regime”.

The Tasnim news agency is also reporting, citing “an informed source”, that Iran will withdraw from the ceasefire if Israel continues to attack Lebanon.

They added that Tehran is “identifying targets to respond”, warning: “If America cannot restrain its rabid dog in the region, Iran will exceptionally help it in this regard! And by force.”
