Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch falls to its all-time lowest price
The Classic sits between the lower end Watch 8 and premium Watch Ultra 2 in Samsung’s latest Galaxy Watch line up. For this price, it hits a sweet spot with high-end design featuring the physically rotating bezel Samsung watches of old were known for, giving you another way to scroll through menus as opposed to using the touchscreen.
The Watch 8 Classic pairs with any Android phone but is best if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, as this lets you use all its advanced tools such as ECG and blood pressure monitoring.
A smartwatch like this is best if you want both the incoming notifications from your phone with third party app support, as well as up-to-the-minute health and fitness tracking. The Watch 8 Classic brings that, so you can answer WhatsApp messages, download Spotify playlists and track your runs via built-in GPS.
The display is a generous, bright 1.34-inch AMOLED with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits so you can still see everything clearly in direct sunlight. The band, which is black or white depending on the model you choose, has a faux leather effect on the outside but is cleverly silicone on the inner, so you can still wear it for exercise.
Samsung’s version of Google’s WearOS 6 software is also much improved on previous generations, with clearer menus and more intuitive ways to tap and flick around the OS. An always-on display means it’ll show the time at, well, all times, though don’t expect battery life to be world-beating. It should last you about two days on a single charge.
But part of the appeal of a smartwatch like this is sleep tracking, so you’ll likely want to charge it for a few minutes before bed to make sure you have enough juice in the tank. To be fair to Samsung, you’ll experience the same brief battery life on the Apple Watch and Google Pixel Watch.
Amazon lists the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic as a “limited time deal”, so you may not have long to take advantage of this substantial smartwatch saving.
