Back to the Future franchise gets long-awaited expansion for 40th anniversary | Books | Entertainment

Last year, Back to the Future fans celebrated the 40th anniversary of the original film’s 1985 release.

Since then, we’ve had a film trilogy, animated series, theme park ride, comic books, video games and a stage musical.

Ever since working as a publicist on Back to the Future Parts II and III, not to mention bagging an 1885 cameo, Michael Klastorin has been the franchise’s official historian.

He previously penned Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History, an expansive book full of pictures, exclusive interviews and pull-out collectables, and has now revised and expanded the book for the 40th anniversary.

Only just published this year, the latest version continues the franchise’s story with over 30 more pages covering the last five years and more.

An official synopsis reads: “Great Scott! Return to Hill Valley alongside Doc Brown and Marty McFly and celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary with complete look at the creation and legacy of this beloved franchise. Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History Revised and Expanded Edition takes readers on an incredible journey through the creation of this pop culture phenomenon. Featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes content and rare production art, this book is a wealth of visual treasures from the making of the films. The revised and expanded 40th anniversary edition included new features and exclusive interviews with cast and crew, including Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Bob Gale, and many more, making this comprehensive volume the perfect gift for Back to the Future fans everywhere.”

Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History (Revised and Expanded Edition) is out now, as is Michael Klastorin’s other book, Creating Back to the Future: The Musical, a show that is leaving London’s West End on April 12 after five years, ahead of a UK tour.
