Morrissey, who is performing at London’s The O2 this Saturday evening, has a royal three of lasting influence on him.
They are The New York Dolls, Frank Sinatra and the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley. The former lead singer of The Smiths is particularly taken by Elvis’ “great voice”.
Fans will remember the King’s influence back in the 80s when the band was still together.
The single version of their 1987 track, Shoplifters of the World Unite, featured a photo of a young Elvis, taken by James R. Reid, on the cover.
Yet the band famously performed this song in concert only once, during their final gig in December 1986 at Brixton Academy.
Resale tickets and viagogo
Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs.
Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused.

During a Top of the Pops appearance of Shoplifters of the World Unite, The Smiths mimed the song while Morrissey wore an Elvis T-shirt in reference to the cover art. Even back in the band’s early performances, they would sometimes take Elvis songs onto another track live, like the first verses of (Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame, prior to their own song, Rusholme Ruffians. A big fan of Elvis’ vocals and performance style, Morrissey has had his stage presence, stance and quiff compared to the King.
In fact, in recent years, Morrissey has performed a cover of Elvis’ You’ll Be Gone at his solo concerts, including during a set at Graceland in 2023, which you can view above. The King originally recorded this track for 1965’s Girl Happy soundtrack and was one of the very few songs the star co-wrote, which on this occasion he did with Memphis Mafia members Red West And Charlie Hodge.
Fans might even be able to see the star perform his Elvis cover this weekend when he performs live in London. Below, we’ve got all the details needed to get involved at the last minute.
How to buy Morrissey tickets now
Morrissey is playing at London’s O2 Arena this weekend on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
This one-night-only show will see the star performing some of his biggest hits. That includes songs from his solo career repertoire, as well as his stint in The Smiths.
What’s more, this is currently the British star’s only planned gig in the UK of 2026.
So then, for fans who have not yet found tickets to the star’s upcoming gig, they can still do so – if they know where to look.
First up is Ticketmaster. The major ticketing platform originally released tickets, and there are still some leftover. At the time of writing, there are some available for around £60 each. Here’s the link:
However, if Ticketmaster doesn’t have the tickets fans desire, there are plenty of options on resale website viagogo. The second-hand seller has a plethora of seats located all over the venue for around £100 each. Here’s the link:
