Samsung’s iPad rival is on sale with a perk Apple can’t match
The iPad may rule the conversation when it comes to shopping for a new tablet computer, but it’s well worth checking out what the Android competition has to offer. Some iPad rivals offer more than Apple does for less money, which is exactly the case with the latest deal on one of Samsung’s popular tablets.
Over at Amazon, you can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite for £269, a great £60 discount on the tablet’s usual RRP. Amazon says it’s a “limited time deal”, so if it looks like the right tablet for you, you may not have long to get it at this price.
This slate has a large 10.9-inch 90Hz LCD display and is incredibly thin at just 6.6mm. It runs Android 15 out of the box but is guaranteed seven years of software update, which will take this 2025 tablet all the way to 2032.
You get a generous 128GB storage with 6GB RAM to keep things ticking over nicely, which makes this more affordable tablet the perfect purchase if you need a computer to check your emails, browser the web, make video calls and stream Netflix – all for much less than the price of most laptops, and it’s more portable to boot.
If that’s not quite enough storage, there is a microSD card slot that you can use to expand storage up to 2TB – perfect if you want to save all your photos, videos and movies to it so you can carry them with you every day.
Best of all, the Tab S10 Lite comes with Samsung’s S Pen stylus included in the box. This pen accessory lets you tap around the interface instead of using your finger, but it also can be used to take handwritten notes in the Samsung Notes app, as well as other third party notes apps.
It’s also your paintbrush when used with artistic apps for creating sketches or even professional projects. This pen perk is one you won’t find with Apple’s iPad – even though iPads all work with one version of Apple Pencil stylus, Apple does not include one in the box with any of its tablets, leaving you to buy them separately.
Given the cheapest current iPad is £329 and the cheapest compatible Apple Pencil is £79, that package would set you back £408 – a considerable chunk more than the £269 you can spend to get a similarly sized and capable Galaxy Tab S10 Lite with the S Pen in the box.
The Tab S10 Lite has a large 8,000mAh battery that should last a full day of use, which you might end up needing if you opt for an optional Bluetooth keyboard and use the tablet like a laptop for work and play.
If it’s play you’re after, the tablet should run all but the most demanding mobile games for casual gamers, but don’t expect it to be the machine to battle it on Genshin Impact, as it may be slightly underpowered for that.
But for most people, this tablet will be more than enough at a price that undercuts the competition.
