Action fans searching for their next adrenaline fix may not need to look any further. A film widely hailed as the “best action movie of all time” and described by viewers as “perfect” is now streaming on Amazon Prime. It was even previously crowned the greatest action film ever made by Rolling Stone, topping the magazine’s list of 50 iconic action movies.

Mad Max: Fury Road roared into cinemas in 2015 and quickly cemented itself as a modern classic. Directed by Australian filmmaker George Miller, the high-octane blockbuster reimagined the iconic franchise, with Tom Hardy stepping into the role of drifter Max Rockatansky and Charlize Theron as the fearless Imperator Furiosa. George Miller has created and directed every film in the Mad Max franchise.

The film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, Abbey Lee, and Courtney Eaton.

Set in a brutal, post-apocalyptic wasteland where water and fuel are precious commodities, the film follows Max as he teams up with Furiosa in a desperate bid to escape a tyrannical warlord and his army.

What unfolds is an almost non-stop, two-hour chase across the desert packed with explosive stunts, inventive vehicles and jaw-dropping visual effects. Hundreds of visual effects artists came together to create enhanced environments, removed safety rigs and constructed large-scale sequences including the film’s towering toxic storm but all while preserving the gritty, “practical-first” aesthetic that became its signature.

The Rotten Tomatoes critics consensus reads: “With exhilarating action and a surprising amount of narrative heft, Mad Max: Fury Road brings George Miller’s post-apocalyptic franchise roaring vigorously back to life.”

The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards and won six, including honours for editing, production design and costume design. It also became the highest-grossing entry in the Mad Max franchise, taking hundreds of millions at the global box office.
