Forget your ‘dodgy Fire TV Stick’, this cheap way to stream Sky is totally legal
It’s no secret that millions of UK homes have been enjoying access to Sky TV at a vastly reduced price via so-called ‘dodgy’ Fire TV Sticks. These devices are often sold with pre-installed apps that let consumers stream premium channels without paying the usual subscription fees. It’s been a growing problem, but Amazon is finally putting a stop to it with an upcoming block on applications that appear to be offering access to illegal streams. The ban has already started in Europe and is expected to arrive in the UK soon, meaning millions will no longer be able to tune into content without paying official providers.
Luckily, there is another way to access premium content at a vastly reduced rate and it’s totally legal. Sky’s NOW streaming platform already offers a pretty hassle-free way to tune in to shows and movies via devices such as Fire TV Sticks, but things are even more enticing. NOW has just unveiled a standout deal that lets you watch hours of premium content for just £3.99 a month. That’s right — sign up and you get access to a swathe of top Sky channels for less than a fiver.
The discounted Entertainment Membership includes Sky Atlantic, Sky Max, Sky Witness, Sky Sci-Fi, Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy, Sky Nature, Sky Kids and more.
It’s a premium plan that normally costs £9.99 per month. Luckily, new customers who join can currently sign up for just £3.99, provided they commit to a 12-month term.
The only thing to note is that NOW says the deal is available for a limited time.
Interested? You can find the Entertainment Membership offer online now.
For anyone unfamiliar with the service, NOW is entirely streaming-based, meaning there’s no satellite dish and no installation required.
If you already own a compatible device — such as a smartphone, tablet, smart TV, games console or Fire TV Stick — you’re good to go. Simply download the NOW app, create an account and start watching.
HERE ARE SOME COMPATIBLE NOW DEVICES
Samsung TVs • LG TVs • Roku • Fire TV Sticks • PlayStation • Xbox • Google TV • Apple TV • iOS • Android
While NOW doesn’t include the advanced features found on Sky Q or Sky Glass, it offers a much cheaper way to enjoy premium TV content.
It’s worth bearing in mind that the £3.99 plan doesn’t include HD streaming and shows will include adverts. Viewers who want higher picture quality or fewer interruptions can upgrade. The Boost add-on costs £6 per month and unlocks 1080p streaming, while Ultra Boost delivers 4K visuals with Dolby Atmos sound for £9 per month.
Alongside the Entertainment deal, NOW has also cut prices on its Cinema and Sports memberships. The Cinema plan now costs £6.99 per month, saving £3, while the Sports pass has dropped to £27.99 — a £7 reduction.
No, these prices probably aren’t as low as illegal streams, but with a crackdown on the way, and many services being blocked, it’s still a much more affordable option for those wanting extra channels to watch.
