The Oscar nominations for 2026 were announced earlier today and the majority of films competing for the top honour can already be watched from the comfort of your own home.

Best Picture stands as one of the most coveted categories, with many viewers regarding it as essentially crowning the finest film of the past year. Ten productions have made the shortlist for this prestigious award.

For those keen to view each contender before the March ceremony, it has never been more convenient. Regrettably, not every Best Picture nominee for this year’s Oscars is presently available for streaming.

Nevertheless, it shouldn’t be long before most appear on one of the existing platforms , reports the Mirror.

We can even make an estimate and educated prediction about when and where they’ll arrive, based on the film’s original cinema release and distribution company.

Bugonia.

What is it about: Two conspiracy-obsessed men kidnap the CEO of a major company when they become convinced that she’s an alien who wants to destroy Earth.

Where to watch: Bugonia could find its way onto streaming platforms including Sky, Netflix and Prime Video but no date is confirmed as yet.

Those who can’t wait until it is part of any subscriptions service can take advantage of a half off deal, with it available to purchase for £9.99. Alternatively Sky Store offers a rental option for £4.99.

What is it about: Last year’s summer blockbuster features Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes who was Formula 1’s most promising driver in the 1990s until a crash on the circuit nearly destroyed his career. Three decades later, the owner of a failing Formula 1 team persuades Sonny to return to racing and become the world’s finest.

Racing alongside the team’s rising star rookie, Sonny quickly discovers that the path to redemption cannot be travelled in isolation.

Where to watch: The film has already been available for streaming for some time. It is exclusively accessible through Apple TV.

Frankenstein.

What is it about: Helmed by Guillermo del Toro and featuring Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac. A brilliant yet arrogant scientist creates a monstrous being in a bold experiment that eventually leads to the destruction of both the creator and his tragic creation.

Where to watch: It is currently on Netflix. The film was produced for the streaming service and following a brief cinema release to meet awards criteria, arrived on the platform just days afterwards.

Frankenstein is available for streaming on Netflix.

Hamnet.

What is it about: Paul Mescal portrays William Shakespeare in this adaptation of the cherished historical fiction. Shakespeare, alongside his wife, Agnes, celebrates the arrival of their son, Hamnet.

Yet, when tragedy befalls them and Hamnet perishes at a tender age, it inspires Shakespeare to pen his enduring masterpiece Hamlet. Where to watch: It should still be available in cinemas for roughly a week.

Similar to Bugonia, it may eventually appear on various streaming platforms, though there will be at least a six-month delay.

Marty Supreme.

What is it about: Marty Mauser, a cunning hustler with an ambition nobody takes seriously, endures tremendous hardship whilst chasing his dreams of glory.

Where to watch: Another film that remains available in UK cinemas following its Boxing Day 2025 release in the region. Whilst numerous A24 productions stream on Prime Video, given this title’s commercial success, competing streaming services will be vying to secure it for their catalogues later this year.

One Battle After Another.

What is it about: Bob is a burnt-out revolutionary living in perpetual stoned paranoia, surviving off the grid alongside his feisty and independent daughter, Willa. When his wicked adversary re-emerges and Willa disappears, the former activist frantically searches for her whilst both father and daughter confront the repercussions of their histories.

Where to watch: It can be bought or hired on digital platforms. It is anticipated to eventually arrive on NOW TV and Sky Cinema later in the year.

Whether Netflix’s proposed acquisition of its studio Warner Bros will impact this remains unclear.

The Secret Agent

What is it about: Set in Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a technology expert, is on the run.

Hoping to reunite with his son, he travels to Recife during Carnival but soon realizes that the city is not the safe haven he was expecting.

Where to watch: The only Best Picture nomination on the list that is yet to actually be released in the UK yet. If fans want to make sure they see every nominee, they will have to keep an eye out on cinema listings next month.

The Secret Agent releases in UK cinemas February 20.

Sentimental Value.

What is it about: Sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father, the charismatic Gustav, a once-renowned director who offers stage actress Nora a role in what he hopes will be his comeback film. When Nora turns it down, she soon discovers he has given her part to an eager young Hollywood star.

Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.

Where to watch: Currently on a limited cinematic release but it’s expected to be streaming in a couple of months. Being a Mubi distributed film, it is expected to be exclusively available on their platform.

That does not make it impossible it could stream elsewhere though.

Sentimental Value is expected to stream on Mubi in March 2026.

Sinners

What is it about: Breaking the record of most nominations with 16, Sinners is a fan favourite and many film fans will be backing it for success at the Oscars ceremony. Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Michael B.

Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

Where to watch: Sinners is streaming now for those who have access to either Sky Cinema or a movie pass on NOW streaming platform.

Train Dreams.

What is it about: Robert Grainier spends his entire life in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, labouring on the land and helping to forge a new world at the dawn of the 20th century.

Where to watch: Similar to Frankenstein, it received a very limited cinema release before Netflix included it in its catalogue. Despite arriving with minimal publicity, it is available to stream immediately.
