£56 long puffer coat that’s ‘great for freezing weather’
A quilted coat never goes out of style, and with snow forecast in the coming days, it might be a good time to add a new design to your winter wardrobe. Marks and Spencer has discounts on a selection of padded coats at the moment, and shoppers can save 20% on a stylish long puffer jacket.
The quilted puffer coat typically retails for £70 but has been discounted to £56. It comes in a versatile light taupe, which would work over practically any outfit. It’s made with M&S’s patented Thermowarmth technology, which is designed to be lightweight while still providing warmth. It closes with a zipper and poppers, and has a high funnel neck and a hood, both of which are great for keeping you extra toasty.
It has a relaxed fit but with a drawstring waist to keep it from looking too boxy. There are also two functional pockets at the front, and the coat has a showerproof coating that protects from light showers. Some sizes are out of stock, but at the time of writing the coat is available in eight to 18, and 22.
The coat is a versatile option for everything from office commutes and school runs to a crisp winter stroll or a dog walk. And while some puffer jackets have a shiny finish on the fabric, this one is made from a matte fabric. If you’re worried about the light colour, M&S also says it’s machine washable, which can be very helpful for keeping it in good shape.
Shoppers online are praising the coat, with many commenting on how well it works in the cold despite being lightweight. One said: “Great colour, fit, quality and warmth. Bulky but great for freezing weather outside.”
Another said it was a “fantastic coat”, adding they wore it on a “recent break in London” where the temperature dropped to minus six degrees.
“This coat is like being engulfed in a warm cloud. It is lightweight but very warm and cosy,” a third review said.
Another shopper said: “I got this because I needed a coat that was warm enough but not so thick that I’d overheat walking round shops/on public transport. In this respect it does a good job. I’ve been wanting it for the last couple of days in the snow and it’s been warm enough.”
Some commented on the coat’s appearance, saying: “Love this coat, the colour is lovely and its very warm and looks far more expensive.” Another wrote: “Wasn’t sure about this coat initially as felt it was bit bulky. However it grew on me is very cosy and for me suitable for country walks in the cold weather.”
However, several shoppers left reviews saying they found the sleeves rather short compared to the rest of the coat. One said: “I really liked the colour and style but unfortunately the arms were far too short and so had to return.”
