Peaky Blinders boss confirms film will have world premiere in Birmingham | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
Peaky Blinders mastermind Steven Knight has announced that the forthcoming sequel film, The Immortal Man, will receive its world premiere screening in Birmingham.
Produced by Netflix, in association with BBC Film, and set to be released on Netflix on 20th March, the feature-length follow-up to the acclaimed period crime series features Cillian Murphy returning to his legendary portrayal of Birmingham crime boss Thomas Shelby.
Birmingham Live has revealed that the film will debut before audiences for the very first time in the city where the television programme is based and where significant portions of the movie were filmed.
Knight declared in today’s statement: “I am delighted to announce that this March, the Peaky Blinders feature film ‘The Immortal Man’ will be screened for the first time ever, in a world wide premiere, at a venue to be announced, in the City of Birmingham.
“The Shelbys are coming home and you are invited to join us. By order of the Peaky Blinders”, reports Birmingham Live.
The Birmingham location selected for this exclusive occasion will be revealed later, alongside the precise premiere date.
The event will presumably occur during the opening week of March, given that The Immortal Man begins its limited cinema run from Friday 6th before arriving on streaming platforms on 20th March.
An official summary for the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders comeback states: “Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet.
“With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”
Alongside Irish star Murphy, the film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Rebecca Ferguson (A House of Dynamite), Academy Award nominee Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), and Sophie Rundle (Gentleman Jack).
The production will also showcase performances from Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) and recent Golden Globe winner Stephen Graham (Adolescence).
Peaky Blinders mastermind Knight crafted the screenplay for The Immortal Man, with Tom Harper taking the director’s chair – Harper previously helmed several episodes of the series alongside the 2015 miniseries War and Peace.
After the film’s debut, the Peaky Blinders universe is poised to expand further with two fresh series heading to both the BBC and Netflix.
Knight revealed in a statement last October: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.

“Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
“The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
